Butler House

“It was an open wound in the body of the city, and now this ailing heart has come back to life, the wound has healed,” emphasised István Papp at the ceremonial handover of the Buttler House on Friday.

The renovation of this listed building was no easy task, as strict heritage conservation requirements meant that modern functionality had to be combined with historical authenticity.

Both the contractor and the county municipality agree that the project was successfully completed.

The building was originally constructed in the 17th century, underwent several alterations over time, and acquired its present form in the 18th century.

After more than twenty years of standing vacant and deteriorating, and following several unsuccessful attempts at restoration, the moment of rebirth finally arrived.
